Why Blog About Dogs?

Why I'd Like to Start a Blog... & more specifically, a DOG BLOG!

Yes, I understand that there are a lot of dog blogs out there. But I wanted to get in on the action for myself. I want to add in my 2 cents. My dog blog is going to be about many subjects, but the main theme I'd like to follow would be somewhat like an advice column. So I will be sharing posts that are to be informational to you, the reader, on any subject dealing with dogs, which is very vast, I understand.
*Disclaimer* I'm in no way claiming to be an expert on dogs and I still believe in seeking out expert advice. Simply put, I'm just trying to better inform the world about the subject of dogs by sharing things I've read in books, online articles, and elsewhere.*
I can see that starting this blog may be a bit of a whim, but I'd like to see where it takes me. And I hope you'll be joining me along this journey!

My Story:

All my life, I've had the pleasure of knowing the love and compassion with company of dog(s). I've had numerous dogs in my young life. My first dog was actually a rescue and a beautiful Samoyed mix with hound?/lab? He was one of the most gorgeous dogs I'd ever seen. KC (the initials of me and my twin sister), was our playmate. He protected us, loved us, and loved to run around in our backyard. We had him off leash one afternoon during the summer of 1997, I was only 7 and KC was only about a year and a half, when he took off after a rabbit or something of that nature and ran straight for the 4-lane highway that we lived off of... tragically he was hit by a car and did not survive. That was heartbreaking for myself and my sister and everyone in the family... even my Grandma, who originally did not want a dog in the house.

After KC passed... life without a dog was just too difficult. So my mother sought out a breeder and we decided on TWO basset hounds! Max and Theo. We decided to keep these guys in a dog pen outside... and unfortunately, they escaped... multiple times, actually. But, each time they would eventually return. The last time they broke out, only Max returned though. This traumatized me especially because when we first got Max and Theo, Max became my sister's dog and Theo was mine. After this event though, Max became the family dog and lived out the rest of his life inside the house, with us. In 2008, Max's Creator called him home and Max crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was one of the best dogs I've had and I think of him often.

During Max's lifetime, we found and rescued another dog. This time a girl. She's named Angel for 2 reasons - 1) her rescue story, and 2) because my Meme, my Grandma, who I spoke of earlier, passed away in 2003. Angel is a black lab mix and is so named because she was rescued by us from the side of the busy four-lane highway we live on. We found her in 2004 at around 6 months of age, putting her birthday in November of 2003, the year Meme passed away. Coincidentally, my Grandma's birthday was also in November... November 18, to be exact. Angel has been a blessing to us and is about to celebrate her 8th birthday with us. She's also one of the best dogs I've ever had. She's well-tempered, loving, kisses, plays, and is very tolerant. I love her and all her little quirks.

That's it for now.
